Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

If you’re experiencing issues with the Docs to WP Pro extension, here are some common problems and how to resolve them.

Authentication Issues

Check WP Application Password:
Make sure you created an Application Password in your WordPress admin under Users → Profile → Application Passwords. Use this key in Docs to WP Pro for connection.

Verify Site URL:
Ensure the WordPress site URL entered in Docs to WP Pro matches your actual site URL (including https:// if SSL is enabled).

Check Permissions:
Confirm that your WordPress user role has sufficient permissions (Editor or Admin is recommended).

Document Not Publishing

Exceeded Quota:
If you’re on the Free plan, check your remaining quota in the License Manager. Once limits are reached, new posts cannot be published until the next cycle.

Blocked by WordPress Security Plugin:
Some security/firewall plugins may block REST API requests. Temporarily disable them to test, or whitelist the Docs to WP Pro requests.

Check Internet Connection:
A weak or unstable connection may cause publishing failures. Retry after ensuring stable internet.

Images Not Uploading

Verify Media Permissions:
Ensure your WordPress user account has permission to upload media.

Check Hosting Limits:
Some hosting providers limit upload size. If an image exceeds this limit, resize or compress it before publishing.

Image Compression Quota:
If you are on a plan with limited image compression, verify that you have not exceeded your quota.

Content Formatting Issues

Theme Overrides:
If formatting (like headings, spacing, or tables) looks different in WordPress, it’s usually due to your active WP theme styles. Docs to WP Pro pushes clean HTML, which your theme renders.

Advanced Layouts:
Complex elements like custom tables or embedded objects may not render exactly as in Google Docs. Simplify formatting for best results.

Categories and Tags Missing

Currently, Docs to WP Pro does not support assigning categories or tags during publishing. These need to be added manually in the WordPress editor after publishing.
